Grammy-winning conductor JoAnn Falletta returns for one of the most beloved and frequently performed works in the orchestral repertoire - Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade, inspired by the collection of Middle Eastern folk tales known as “One Thousand and One Nights.” This concert also includes Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet and the contemporary Concerto for Timpani and Orchestra - Raise the Roof - featuring Principal Timpanist Gerald Scholl.
Join Maestro Daniel Hege and Concertmaster Rossitza Goza in the WORLD PREMIERE of Kharitanov’s Violin Concerto “Miroirs”. The program also includes powerful and moving music from Richard Wagner, Samuel Barber, and Edward Elgar.
Gerard Schwarz returns for an evening of lively and vivid orchestral music. The performance begins with Dvořák’s joyful Carnival Overture, followed by Hanson’s “Romantic” Symphony No. 2, and ends with Schwarz's arrangement of Strauss’ Suite from Der Rosenkavalier.
Season XIX concludes with Navarro’s joyful Downey Overture for Orchestra, Debussy’s gorgeous Nocturnes, and Rachmaninoff’s lush and dramatic Symphony No. 2. Guest conductor Marcelo Lehninger and the Tulsa Chorale will help us end the 2024-2025 season on a high note.
