Pops II – Voyage of Discovery: Space, the Final Frontier

Pops II:
Voyage of Discovery - Space, the Final Frontier

Join us for an evening filled with a diverse collection of space-themed symphonic suites, including works from John Williams and Gustav Holst.

  • Music from the Star Trek Enterprise
  • WILLIAMS: Star Wars
  • HOLST: The Planets

Star Wars – John Williams is widely known for his influential repertoire of film scores over the last half century. His scores attributed to George Lucas’s space epic Star Wars Trilogy films have been recognized as some of the most recognizable and popular cinematic scores of all time. Guest conductor, Ron Spigelman, will guide members of the Tulsa Symphony Orchestra through an assembly of favorites, sure to transport audience members to the breathtaking “galaxy far, far away” they have all learned to cherish.

The Planets – Accompanied by space images from NASA, Gustav Holst’s “The Planets” is a seven-movement orchestral suite that takes the audience through an imaginative and otherworldly voyage. As an ode to Holst’s fascination in astrology and the emotional influence of the planets on the human psyche, each movement is named after a planet in the solar system.
