Jane Monheit with the TSO

March 12, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm

$25 – $90

Presenter: PAC Trust Show Dates: March 12, 2017 at 7 PM

Monheit and Payton will blend their talents for this celebratory concert as they did recently on a recent CD: The Songbook Sessions: Ella Fitzgerald. Considered to be one of the greatest jazz singers of all time, Ella Fitzgerald was the featured performer when the PAC opened in March 1977, accompanied by the Tulsa Philharmonic. For this March 2017 concert, Tulsa Symphony will play for Monheit, along with Payton and Monheit’s own trio.

JANE MONHEIT: Monheit’s stunning debut album, Never Never Land, was voted “Best Recording Debut” by the Jazz Journalists Association and stayed on the Billboard jazz chart for a year. Her second album Come Dream with Me debuted on that chart at No. 1. Several albums followed, including The Songbook Sessions: Ella Fitzgerald, which is her first collaboration with Payton.

NICHOLAS PAYTON: Multi-instrumentalist and trumpet master Nicholas Payton is one of most accomplished artists today. He was hailed as a virtuoso before graduating from high school, and his talent and skill have earned him praise and accolades. Barely in his twenties, Payton made his major-label recording debut as a leader for Verve Records. Since then, Payton has recorded countless albums under his own name, as well as a special featured guests artist with Trey Anastasio, Ray Brown, Ray Charles, Daniel Lanois, Dr. John, Stanley Jordan, Elvin Jones, Roy Haynes, Joe Henderson, Zigaboo Modeliste, Marcus Roberts, Jill Scott, Clark Terry, Allen Toussaint, Chucho Valdes, among others. Nicholas is the producer/arranger and featured performer of Monheit’s critically acclaimed Songbook Sessions: Ella Fitzgerald.

Among the songs on the concert set list are songs Ella Fitzgerald made popular, such as “Somebody Loves Me,” “Where or When,” “All of You,” Something’s Gotta Give,” and “I’ve Got You Under My Skin.”

Tickets for this grand 40th Anniversary concert featuring Jane Monheit, Nicholas Payton and the Tulsa Symphony go on sale to the public on Monday, September 19 at 10 am. Ticket prices are $25, $40, $55 and $90. The $90 VIP ticket price includes prime seating and a post-show reception with the performers. VIP tickets are limited!
