Tulsa Symphony Orchestra presents a MUSICAL experience for its 2022/23 season
TULSA, Oklahoma –The Tulsa Symphony Orchestra’s new season will bring Tulsa an electrifying MUSICAL experience. The 2022/23 concerts will excite the senses with some of classical music’s most adored works, including the opening night performance of Magnificent: Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 5 on September 24, Unforgettable: Bernstein’s Symphonic Dances, Sensational: Dvořák’s Symphony No. 7, Invigorating: Prokofiev’s Symphony No. 5, Captivating: Brahms’ Symphony No. 1, Alluring: An Evening of Opera, and Luminous: Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3 “Eroica.” The TSO is thrilled to announce the generous underwriting of this classics series by the Patti Johnson Wilson Foundation. Additionally, the TSO will present two live film experiences, including Elf ™ in Concert and The Princess Bride in Concert with live orchestral accompaniment at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center.
Through an exciting partnership with the University of Tulsa, the TSO is also pleased to introduce the Dr. David B. Waters Chamber Orchestra Series, which will be performed at TU’s Lorton Performance Center on October 2, 2022 and March 12, 2023. The TSO’s beloved chamber music performances will return as the Josephine G. Winter Chamber Music Series, newly named in memory of the arts patron and TSO Board Emerita, and will be performed at Tulsa’s First Church – First Presbyterian Church of Tulsa.
To lead this year’s set of wide-ranging repertoire, the TSO welcomes several renowned conductors to lead the Orchestra. They include Marcelo Lehninger, Music Director of the Grand Rapids Symphony; Gerhardt Zimmermann, Principal Conductor of the Canton Symphony Orchestra; Stefan Asbury, Chief Conductor of the Noord Nederlands Orkest; Gerard Schwarz, Music Director of the All-Star Orchestra; Yaniv Dinur, Music Director of the New Bedford Symphony Orchestra; Daniel Hege, Music Director of the Wichita Symphony; and Sarah Hicks, Principal Conductor for Live at Orchestra Hall for the Minnesota Orchestra.
