Fridays in the Loft:
Beethoven and Ewazen
Music, wine, and conversation in a classically casual atmosphere.
The final TSO Chamber Series performance of the season will feature music by Ewazen and Beethoven. Eric Ewazen’s Trio for Trumpet, Violin and Piano (1992), one of Ewazen’s more popular works, showcases the contrasting qualities of the cello and trumpet in four uniquely diverse movements. This TSO performance will feature Tim McFadden (trumpet), Kari Caldwell (cello), and Lyndon Meyer (piano). Beethoven’s genius found a sublime expression in the string quartet form. For many reasons, including his ever-increasing deafness, Beethoven was able to augment the world of the string quartet in his three string quartets published as his Opus 59, including the “Razumovsky,” which is considered to be the most expansive of the three. Ronnamarie Jensen (associate concertmaster), Michael Nicholson (principal 2nd violin), Jeffrey Cowen (viola), and Kari Caldwell (cello) will perform.
