Fridays in the Loft I

Music, wine, and conversation in a classically casual atmosphere.

The opening of the 2017-2018 Fridays in the Loft Chamber Series will feature one of Mozart’s grandest works for woodwinds – Serenade No. 10 “Gran Partita.”  Mozart composed three great wind serenades after settling into Vienna in 1781. This monumental work is written for 13 players and contains seven diverse movements. A member of the audience, upon hearing the first performance, recorded the effect it made on him: “…glorious and sublime! It consisted of thirteen instruments…At each instrument sat a master–oh, what an effect it made–glorious and grand, excellent and sublime.”
